Wallace & Gromit
In 2018, Carrot Productions approached Aardman Productions with a view to showing one of the Wallace & Gromit films together with a live orchestra.
We couldn’t understand why it hadn’t been done before.
The reason was simple; there was no music available. The original music would have been recorded in the studio as separate cues. These cues can get lost or thrown away and only scraps of the original existed.
I got in touch with Julian Nott, the composer, who sent me a handwritten score for The Wrong Trousers. This will have been written before the film sessions and quite a lot of changes had obviously been made during the recordings.
With the help of various manuscripts, watching the films countless times and a bit of imagination, I managed to recreate the scores for A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave and A Matter Of Loaf And Death.
In 2019, Carrot Productions go on tour with Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels. This was originally created for the Wallace & Gromit Prom in 2012. It has now been rewritten with new material by Daniel Whibley including a duet for Gromit (on violin) and Matthew Sharp on cello.
