#BBCPhilAtHome

Daniel’s composition, arranging and orchestration skills were in demand by the BBC Philharmonic due to Covid-19, with several highly-acclaimed projects.

Grand Old Duke

From BBC Tiny Happy People. Over summer 2021, we worked with them to record some nursery rhymes and songs. Watch on Facebook

Row Row

Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily. Life is but a dream. Watch on Facebook.

You Will Be Found

ntroducing “You Will Be Found” – a stunning BBC Philharmonic production, with thanks to Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Featuring young singers from 17 music projects funded by Children In Need.

Paul's Tune

Daniel has created a beautiful orchestration of Paul Harvey’s improvised piano piece, released as a charity single on the 1st of November 2020

Whistle Stop Guide to the Orchestra

This was written for the BBC Philharmonic and should have been performed live in April. However, things didn’t work out as planned so this is a lockdown recording with every musician playing their separate parts at home.

Tango alla Turca

This was a BBC Radio 3 challenge. Daniel was given 12 hours to arrange piece of piano music chosen by the listeners. Considering not sleeping the night before and a crashing computer, Daniel thought this went quite well!

Tom Jones Medley

This was arranged for Sir Tom’s 80th birthday and broadcast on BBC Radio 2

Easter Parade

By the magic of audio editing, 68 of the BBC Philharmonic’s wonderful musicians play together for the first time remotely, recording Daniel’s arrangement from their homes.

All Around the World

This classic by Lisa Stansfield is from the Great Northern Playlist and was arranged for BBC Radio 2.

Peter and the Wold

The leader of the BBC Phil, Yuri Torchinsky, asked Daniel to arrange the Triumphal March from Peter and the Wolf for the 1st violins to keep morale up.

Pizzazzi

This is a fun piece Daniel wrote for himself and the fantastic Jenny Hutchinson during lockdown. A strange combination of bass and piccolo but it was an enjoyable project.

Heads, Shoulders...

BBC’s Tiny Happy People asked for some nursery rhymes for parents stuck at home with their kids during lockdown. They were a real hit!

Relax-Ay-Voo

Relax-Ay-Vooo by Arthur Schwartz & Sammy Cahn, performed by six Daniel Whibleys

We'll Meet Again

A heartfelt rendition of the iconic wartime song, recorded and performed by members of the BBC Philharmonic’s double bass section.

David Bowie – Sound & Vision

In a challenge set by BBC Radio 6Music, the musicians from the BBC Philharmonic recorded all their parts individually at home during lockdown, mixed together by sound engineer Joe Reiser and arranged by Daniel Whibley.
